AUCKLAND

The Auckland Branch of the NZ Federation of Graduate Women no longer offers Scholarships and Awards except for occasional one-off Awards. The Kate Edger Educational Charitable Trust, which grew from the Trust formerly administered by the Auckland Branch, offers the following Awards for women who are resident in the Auckland area during the academic year and enrolled at the University of Auckland, the Albany campus of Massey University, Auckland College of Education, Auckland University of Technology, Manukau Institute of Technology, or UNITEC.

New Start Award One award of $10,000 paid in instalments over a 6 semester period To assist a woman student from the New Start Programme to study towards a degree. 5-Nov
Millennium Undergraduate Awards A maximum of 40 awards annually, each of $1000. To assist women enrolled for full-time study in a degree or diploma to meet expenses incidental to study costs. Offered twice annually. 31 March and 31 July
Final Year First Degree Award One award of $5000 To assist a women in her final year of study for a first degree. 30-Nov
Bachelor (with Honours)(Year4) Degree Award. One award of $6,000 To assist a women in her final year of study for a Bachelor with Honours Degree 17 December.
Postgraduate Diploma Award. One award of $6,000 To assist a woman study for a Post-Graduate Diploma. 17 December.
Masters Degree Award Two awards of $6000 To assist two women graduates to carry out research for a Masters Degree. 30-Nov
Doctoral Award Two awards of $12,000 a year for not more than 3 years, a total of $36,000 To assist two women graduates to undertake postgraduate study for a doctoral degree. One Award is for research on a specified topic, the other Award is for a self-chosen topic. 28-Feb
Post-Doctoral Research Awards Two awards of $15000 To assist women who have graduated with a doctoral degree within the last 4 years to carry out research on a limited term project. 28 February and 31 July

MANAWATU

Total value of awards is $50,000

Women currently enrolled at Massey University at Masters or PhD level. Outstanding applicant is known as the Hildegarde Gabriel Scholar 31 March

Graduate Women Manawatu UCOL Awards – usually 2 or 3 awards made annually. Total value of awards is $5000. Women students at the Universal College of Learning, P.N. studying for a degree. 30 April

New Horizons for Women Trust Awards – 2 awards annually. $2000 each. For women seeking second chance education opportunities.   Application to NHWT.

NELSON

OTAGO

Community Awards

The Federation has a particular interest in supporting projects and activities relating to education, health, women and children. Preference is given to recognized community and voluntary organisations that do not have an assured funding base and that rely largely on donations. Note: Because of limited funds, grants are not made to schools, kindergartens, play centres and sporting groups. The upper limit of an award is $1000. Applications are considered three times a year. Closing dates are: 31 January, 15 May and 15 September.
