Purpose of NZFGW FELLOWSHIP Award:

To award Fellowships to women graduates for postgraduate study or research.

Conditions of Award:

1. The Fellowship is open to a graduate of a university or polytechnic in New Zealand or overseas to support study at Masterate or Doctoral level. Candidates must have resided in NZ for at least five years prior to the application.
2. The value of the Fellowship will be determined by the Fellowship Trust Board in the range NZ$5,000 to NZ $15,000 or at the discretion of the Board. Successful applicants who hold other grants may be awarded a sum up to the value stipulated by the regulations (if any) relating to those grants.
3. To qualify for tenure in New Zealand the Fellowship will normally be held at doctoral level.
4. The field of study or research is unrestricted and the Fellowship is tenable at any recognised university or polytech accredited by an agency established under the law of the host country. Evidence of such accreditation may need to be provided if the standing of the institution is not known to the New Zealand Federation of Graduate Women.
5. Due consideration will be given to the purpose of the NZFGW to foster international understanding and friendship, to further the value of education, and to encourage participation in public life. Personal qualifications shall therefore be taken into account. The Fellow shall undertake as far as possible to keep in touch with FGW of the country of accreditation.
6. The selected applicant must be prepared to submit a brief report before the payment of the second instalment of the award. A full report of the research or study done during the tenure of the Fellowship must be submitted, together with a statement of its value from the Professor or supervisor under whose guidance the research or study has been conducted. In any published work relating to this, the author shall be designated as "Fellow of the New Zealand Federation of Graduate Women".
