Introduction
One Mildred Keir Training
Award of up to $2500 is made annually:
-
for women twenty-seven
years of age and older, born in New Zealand, who are endeavouring
to establish themselves in some area of the workforce by entering
upon some diploma, degree or other accreditation course
-
for fees, travel
costs, on-campus seminars, extramural study, technical institute training,
book costs, babysitting or family charges and similar outgoings.
Applicants need not
be members of the New Zealand Federation of Graduate Women (NZFGW). Applicants
must not have achieved qualifications higher than NZQA level 3 (or the
equivalent).
Background
A Trust fund was set
up by Mildred Keir who died in 2003, in recognition of, and gratitude
for, the benefits of many years of shared interests and concerns, valued
friendships, the privileges of travel overseas to international conferences
in congenial company, and in particular, recognition of a United States
and New Zealand friendship for several decades.

on 31 May each year.
The NZFGW Mildred Keir Training Award is administered by the New Horizons
