Disarmament/Peace
2000 United Nations Charter: Affirmation commitment to the promotion of peaceful relationships and endorsement of Preamble and Chapter VI of the United Nations Charter: Pacific Settlement of Disputes.
  Peace Studies: Promotion of peace education and peace research initiatives. Development of peace studies at NZ Tertiary Institutions.
  Nuclear Disarmament: Commenting on the continuing efforts of the New Zealand Government for international reduction of nuclear weapons.
1997 Abolition 2000 Campaign: Endorsing a Convention which seeks to obtain UN agreement on the total elimination of nuclear weapons by the year 2000.
1994 Disarmament and Arms Control: Support for the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty and renewal of nuclear weapons Non-Proliferation Treaty.
1991 Nuclear Testing in the South Pacific: Reaffirmation of the NZFGW policy decisions of 1963, 1964, 1976 on nuclear testing.
1988 Disarmament conference: Supporting the concept of a NZ disarmament conference.
1979 UN Consultative Committee on Disarmament: Seeking progress report on government action on the recommendations of the Consultative Committee on Disarmament.
1976 Peace Research Institute: Urging libraries stock books from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.
  Nuclear testing in the Pacific: Commending and supporting the anti-testing stand of the French FUW.
1973 Nuclear testing in the Pacific: Reaffirmation of opposition.
1964 Nuclear testing in the Pacific: Expressing opposition to nuclear testing in the Pacific, and advising the French FUW of this.



Education 
2008 Schools Plus – How to engage senior secondary school students and young employees in ongoing learning and training
2007 Violence-free Schools: Urging the Minister of Education to support schools in developing and implementing policies that will help to ensure a violence-free, cooperative and safe school learning environment.
2000 * National Certificate of Educational Achievement: Clarification and explanation of the system of national moderation to be set in place.
  * Secondary School Staffing Ratios: Need to increase ratios in secondary schools to give staff time to implement and maintain new structures for NCEA.
  * Funding Research in Tertiary Education: Establishment of a funding model for tertiary education supporting the importance of pure and applied research at postgraduate level.
1997 * Enrolment and attendance at school: Urging a nationwide system to monitor and enforce enrolment and attendance of students at all levels of compulsory schooling.
  * Repayment of Tertiary Loans: Urging a review of the conditions for repayment of loans, especially by reducing the interest rate, and waiving the basic rate.
  * Living Allowances: Urging implementation of a policy for a universal system of living allowances for all tertiary students.
  * Student Loans Scheme: Urging a review so that the fee component of the loan is paid direct to institutions, maximum limits on draw downs, and students informed of implementations of comp[compounding interest and loan conditions.
  * Suspension of Students: Expressing concern at rate of suspensions and urging funding of continuing programmes and services.
  * Specialist Interpreting Services: Requesting extension of services free to schools and related education services for ESOL children and their families.
1994 * Funding Tertiary Education and Training: Supporting concept that consideration be given to fair and realistic payments by students.
  * Study Rights: Continued NZFGW opposition to introducing a study right that is subject to limitations of duration and age. Reaffirmation of NZFGW decision of 1991.
  * NZ Qualification Authority: Ensuring that an integrated Qualifications Framework does not affect the autonomy of universities, especially for academic freedom and methods of assessment.
  * Capital charges on assets of educational institutions: Opposing imposition of a capital charge on assets of educational institutions.
   * Study Awards: Urging that paying study grants to students whose taxable income does not reflect their true means be investigated.
   * Primary Teachers' claim for equity: Supporting pay equity between Primary and Secondary School Teachers.
   * Funding for the School of Dentistry: Opposing a reduction in funding to NZ's School of Dentistry.
1991  * Teacher Qualifications: Expressing concern about the Government's policy to remove the requirements that teachers be qualified, trained and registered.
   * Study Right: Opposing the introduction of a study right that is subject to arbitrary limitations of duration and age.
   * Small Schools: Acknowledging their particular character, supporting their retention and urging that the Government give priority to educational and social criterion in their evaluation.
  * School Charters: That these continue to include a statement of the principle of equal opportunity.
  * Boards of Trustees: That the number of co-opted members be not greater than the number of elected parent representatives.
1985  * Teacher training in the basics: Urging Teacher's College students be taught basic reading language and handwriting skills.
  * Otago Girls High School: Urging retention of the facade during redevelopment.
1982 * School libraries: Urging that trained school librarians be appointed.
  * University Entrance scholarships and bursaries: Seeking an increase in scholarships and bursary awards to encourage academic effort and achievement.
  * Travel concession: Supporting travel concessions for tertiary students living away from home. 
  * Johnson Report: Urging implementation of the Johnson report (on sex education and human relationships) in schools.
  * Education Funding: Pointing out greater rather than fewer resources should be devoted to education.
1979  * Community colleges and technical institutes: Urging facilities for preschool children be included in planning foe community colleges and technical institutions.
1976  * Reading standards: Urging that short-term economics do not slow down attempts to improve overall reading standards.
  * University entrance scholarships: Urging that marks and school of scholarship winners continue to be published.
  * Librarians in schools: Urging the appointment of professionally trained librarians in schools.
  * Gifted children: Urging that gifted children be recognised and given added experience to extend them.
  * Human relations education: Urging research and teacher training in human relations.
1973 * Equal education opportunity: Reaffirming the promotion of equality of educational opportunity for Maori and Polynesian people (1970)
  * Education for living: Seeking specialist teacher training for this programme.
1970  * Training in institutional management: Reaffirming the 1964 resolution supporting training in institutional management.
  * Equality of educational opportunity: Asking branches to promote equality of educational opportunity for the Maori people.
1967 * Residential accommodation for university students, including halls of residence: Urging Government and local body funding.
  * Teacher shortage: Expressing concern at the serious shortage of secondary teachers, urging greater flexibility in engaging supply teachers, and in training and retraining.
  * Adult Education: Seeking university extension courses for women in rapid reading, child psychology and household budgeting.
  * Residential accommodation for university students, including halls of residence: Launching a NZFGW campaign to provide university halls of residence.
1964 * Residential accommodation for university students, including halls of residence: Seeking a Government subsidy; supporting provision of some mixed halls of residence.
  * Training in institutional management: Pointing out the need for training in institutional management and quality food service.
1962 * Teacher shortage: Urging Government action on a Commission of Education.
  * Maori education: Financial support for the Maori Education Foundation Fund.
1959 * Residential accommodation for university students, including halls of residence: Campaign for providing student accommodation.

1997 * Work for the Dole Scheme: Urging a through analysis of the financial, economic and social impact before any schemes is introduced.
1994 * Paid parental leave: Supporting the concept of paid parental leave.
1991 * Equal Employment Opportunity: Urging the Government, following the repeal of the the Employment Equity Act 1990, make clear its commitment to equal employment opportunity, by implementing, without delay, Recommendation 18 of the Report of the Working Party on Equity in Employment.
  * Monitoring Equal Opportunity: NZFGW notes with pleasure the setting up of the Equal Opportunities Trust and recommends that its performance be closely monitored and its impact and effectiveness be made public by the Ministers of Labour and Women's Affairs.
1979 * Positions of responsibility in the teaching profession: Urging recognition of breaks in service for bearing and raising children.
  * Staffing secondary schools: Urging improved working conditions and increased financial rewards.
  * Bonding teachers: Seeking a review of bonds with a view to increased repayment for broken bonds.
1976 * Part-time teachers: Urging removal of ambiguities and anomalies in the areas of classification and conditions of service for part-time teachers, and teachers returning to the workforce.  
  * Part-time public servants: Seeking better opportunities, and permanent status for part-time work in the public service.
1973 * Equal pay: Support for equal pay legislation urging adequate enforcement.
1970  * Equal pay: Urging a Commission of Inquiry on equal pay.
1967 * Public Service: Urging more equal access for women graduates to jobs in the Public Service.



Environment
1994 * Environmental Choice label: Urging funding for an internationally recognised Agency to promote an "Environmental Choice" label.
  * Marine eco-systems: Urging that a protected network of representative marine eco-systems be created.
  * National Parks: Urging that National Parks be managed and preserved in perpetuity by the Department of Conservation.
  * Efficient use of energy: Seeking a National Energy Policy to ensure environmentally sound energy efficiency and to ensure that New Zealand reduce its carbon dioxide emission to the 1990 level by the year 2000. 
  * UNCED Agenda 21: Requested the establishment and maintenance of publicly accountable monitoring of NZ's progress towards the goals of UNCED Agenda 21, which includes integrating environmental and economic policies, ensuring that polluters pay, and supporting research and development of improved technologies for conservation and management of resources. 
1988 * Unleaded petrol: Urging the promotion of earlier and wider public acceptance of unleaded petrol.
1985 * Lead free petrol: Urging a firm timetable for introducing lead free petrol.
1982 * Lead free petrol: ?Advocating lead free petrol.
1979 * Reducing lead in petrol: Seeking a reduction of lead in petrol. 
1976 * Nuclear power: Asking the Royal Commission on Nuclear Power to include financial cost analysis of nuclear energy as a power source. 
1973 * Pollution: Expressing concern at pollution and urging individual and branch action to combat pollution. 
  * Recycling: Urging Government encouragement of recycling waste materials.
  * International ecological problems: Supporting UN Governing Council for Environmental Programmes, including special voluntary fund.
   * NZ Environmental Commission: Supporting the NZ Environmental Commission, and urging adequate funding.

1997 * Survey of Unpaid Work: Commending Government on decision to fund survey, urging developing a method for measuring value of unpaid work in relation to GDP.
1994 * Independent Commission against Corruption: Supporting the setting up of an Independent Commission Against Corruption.
  * Recommendation: UN Conference in Beijing: Urging including and funding for representatives from appropriate NGO's in the NZ Government Delegation to the UN Conference on Women in Beijing.
  * Public Broadcasting: Urging support for adequate funding non-commercial public radio.
1991  * Time use survey: Urging that Government (i) proceed with a full-scale time use survey repeated at regular intervals and (ii) publish valuations of unpaid work regularly as supplements to the National Account.
1988 * Taxing Charitable bodies: Seeking that the Government reconsider proposals to tax charitable bodies. 
  * Telephone charges: Seeking to ensure that toll charge reductions are available equally throughout New Zealand.

Health
2008 Submission to the Health Select Committee supporting the intention of the Public Health Bill to reduce obesity
1994 * Assisted Human Reproductive Technologies: Urging that a Select Committee on Justice and Law consider the Ministerial Committee Report on Assisted Reproductive Technologies and call for public submissions.
  * Liquor advertising: Urging that the Government ban alcohol advertising on TV and radio.
  * Crisis counselling: Urging free access to crisis counselling 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
1991 * Urging that the Government ensure that charters for each school and Area Health Board designate allocate adequately-trained staff to carry responsibility for health promotion and the prevention of physical and mental illness
  * Hearing tests: Requesting that the Government maintain adequate funds to assist in "reducing the failure rate of school entry hearing tests".
1988 * Equitable allocation of resources for mental health: Advocating that priorities for allocating resources be community-based health promotion and health maintenance, community-based restoration and recovery, and hospital-based acute treatment.
1982 * Labelling food: Urging that manufactured foods and beverages be fully labelled listing ingredients and additives.
  * Food additives: Seeking a reduction in food additives.
  * Lead poison monitoring: Seeking increased funding for the lead poison prevention monitoring programme.
1979 * School health service: Urging reorganization and upgrading of the school health service.
  * School lunches: Urging top priority be given to the nutritional value of school lunches. 
1976  * Disabled Persons Community Welfare Act: Urging the Act be implemented and seeking a disability allowance for parents caring for a handicapped child at home, and transport assistance to schools. 
1967 * Family planning: Urging a positive programme for family planning.
1962 * Mental Health: Supporting law reform relating to mental health.



Housing
1991  * Urging the Government to ensure that the Housing Corporation of New Zealand continues to provide state-owned housing.
1988  * Housing Corporation: Urging the Government to recognise the social services function of the Housing Corporation, and not to transform the Housing Corporation into a profit making state owned enterprise.
1976  Granny Flats: Advocating bulk production by the Housing Corporation of transportable 'granny flats' for lease.



Social Issues
2007 Women's Refuges: Strongly urging the Government to increase funding for the National Collective of Independent Women's Refuges (NCIWR) to a level which enables the 24 hour crisis-helpline to function adequately, and allows funds for the additional, preventative work that some of the Refuges provide.
 2000 * Casino Licensing: Support for the NCWNZ policy.
  * Citizens' Initiated Referenda: (i) Legislation and funding for an independent body to present to the public consequences of adopting or failing to adopt recommendations of such referendum. (ii) Such a referendum to address a single issue and be unambiguous.
1997 * Optional Protocol to CEDAW: Urging support for drafting, adoption and ratification to enable groups and individuals to complain to CEDAW monitoring committee.
1994 * The Domestic Protection Act: Urging introduction of revisions to the Domestic Protection's Act (1982) and funding co-ordinated violence protection and intervention programme.
  * Men for non-violence: Affirming the work of organisations that are addressing the problems of domestic violence and urging adequate financial support.
  * Funding for Women's Refuges: Urging increased funding for women's refuges.
  * Rights and responsibilities of Jurors: Requesting that jurors be provided with clear and simple information about their rights and responsibilities, including their right to take notes and urging jurors receive payment equivalent to the minimum adult wage.
1991 * Property in de facto marriages: Requesting that the Government introduce legislation granting enforceable property rights to partners in a de facto marriage.
  * International Convention of all forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW): Urging the Government to support CEDAW by (i) lobbying at the UN for better funding for the Commission monitoring the convention, (ii) publicising the convention, and (iii) encouraging submissions from Non-Governmental organisations on NZ's compliance with the Convention to the Commission that monitors the Convention.
1985 * TV violence: Seeking deletion of programmes containing extreme violence, pornography and sadism portrayed in videotapes and the cinema. 
  * Cinema violence: Expressing concern at the level of violence, pornography and sadism portrayed in videotapes and the cinema.
  * Smoking: Seeking banning of smoking on domestic flights.
  * Playground equipment standard: Urging adoption of playground equipment standard.
  * CORSO: NZFGW ceases to be a member of CORSO but informal links to be maintained.
1982 * Child care workers: Urging that an accreditation board for child care workers be established.
  * Alcohol: Expressing concern at the rising incidence of alcoholism and opposing extension of liquor licenses to supermarkets and grocers.
1979 * Alcohol: Commending Government efforts to control drunken driving, and urging further efforts.
  * Small claims tribunal: Urging that small claims tribunals be established on a pilot basis. 
1976 * Jury service: Supporting the principle of legislation on jury service(equality of responsibilities for women and men)
  * Alcohol: Opposing any lowering of the drinking age, and seeking heavier penalties for drink driving. 
  * TV violence: Expressing concern at undue emphasis on violence, seeking stricter control particularly of children's programmes.
1973 * Empowering women: Seeking research on the need for day care centres for pre-school children, after school care centres, part-time job opportunities for women retraining women for employment.
  * Day care: Seeking provision of day care centres, with trained supervisors.
  * Drugs: Expressing concern at drug problem, supporting review of drug legislation.
  * Indecent publications: Approving the Indecent Publications Tribunal.

1967 * National Advisory Council of the Training of Teachers. Asking that representation on the Council by various bodies includes women.
1964 * Public office: Urging support for qualified women for public office.
1956 * Local authorities: Urging branches to ensure the nomination of qualified women.
  * Obstetrics and gynaecology: Urging the appointment of a woman to the Academic Advisory (Auckland) to the Chair of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
